Tweed River Jockey Club chairman Bernie Quinn.
TWEED River Jockey Club has been forced to abandon tomorrow's Valentine's Day meeting at Murwillumbah following this afternoon's deluge which dropped 80mm of water onto the track and surrounds in an hour.
TRJC secretary-manager, Stephen Huggins, said the downpour was the "nail in the coffin" as far as the meeting was concerned.
"We missed a big storm yesterday afternoon and were hopeful that the meeting would go ahead on a heavy 8-rating track but this inundation has left us with no option but to call them off," Mr Huggins said.
The club contacted race-day sponsors early this afternoon to give them a "heads up" that the program couldn't go ahead.
