A BANORA Point newsagency was broken into for the second time in six months last night.

At 2.20am (NSW) two men entered Banora Point News in the Banora Shopping Village and stole cigarettes and chocolates worth about $8000.

CCTV footage showed the men entering the store by smashing the front-door glass then jumping the counter to access the cigarette cabinets.

Banora Point News proprietor John Stubbs said the one of the offenders spent a long time trying to pry the door open.

"The deadbolt stopped him," Mr Stubbs said.

"Whatever they were using to try to jimmy open the door, they used to smash in the window."

Mr Stubbs said he saw the whole thing play out on the CCTV footage.

The burglars helped capture their own image on the video by turning the lights on in the store during the robbery.

"They were in here an awful long time," he said.

Tweed Heads police said no other stores were targeted in the shopping village.

This was the second time the newsagency was targeted in six months with another in September last year where offenders also stole cigarettes.
