Shoppers and browsers pack into a car boot market.
MURWILLUMBAH Central Rotary members are going in boots 'n all to ensure what will become a regular car boot market in the town is a huge success.
The car boot market is being organised by the Rotary Club of Murwillumbah Central and will commence on Sunday, 19 February - the market starts at 7.30am and runs until noon.
The venue will be Stockland's Hundred Hills development on the corner of Riveroak Drive and Old Lismore Road, Murwillumbah.
Car boot sales are a great way for community members to sell unwanted items and also provide a low-cost outlet for locally-produced arts, crafts and other products.
Organisers plan to make the Murwillumbah sale a regular monthly event with a carnival atmosphere featuring a sausage sizzle, jumping castle and face-painting.
Exhibitors simply pay a $10 lot fee plus $6 insurance to showcase their wares - the lot fee will help to raise funds for Rotary's charitable activities.
Murwillumbah Central Rotary Club Past President, George Phillips, said the club had been motivated to establish the car boot market due to the success of similar ventures operating on the Gold Coast.
"We are really excited about the prospects for this event and already have a large number of exhibitors committed for the first sale," Mr Phillips said.
"There is really no limit to what can be offered for sale - it just has to fit in your car boot or the back of a Ute!" he said.
Anyone wanting to sell out of their boot at the market can book a berth by phoning Rotary's Jack Heffernan on (02) 6672 1753 or emailing cathieandjack@gmail.com.
