MEMBERS, special guests and staff all provided boisterous applause and cheers as the NSW Bowls flag was hoisted aloft during at ceremony at Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club on Sunday to usher in a switch of state allegiances by the club.

Kingscliff Beach had been a member of Queensland Bowls for 60 years, but on Sunday the club became a member of the Tweed-Byron District Bowls Association and in doing so also became a member of NSW Bowls.

The move enables Kingscliff Beach to access funding to aid with promotion of the game within not only the community but in the schools system.

The day's activities started with Kingscliff chairman Greg Barrack welcoming the guests, including Patricia Reynolds, the NSW Women's president, and TBDBA women's president Anne Mackay.

Representatives from the 10 clubs that make up the Tweed Byron District WBA gathered to form a guard of honour to welcome the arrival of the dignitaries.

A NSW Bowls flag was then presented to the club and quickly hoisted aloft, after which a morning tea was served, followed by a game of bowls and then a celebratory lunch.
