FEDERAL Independent MP Bob Katter says Queenslanders shouldn't have to obtain permits to evict flying foxes.
He says his new party, Katter's Australian Party, which plans to stand candidates at the state election, will fight for Queenslanders' rights to act when their properties are invaded.
He said the current system requiring permits was putting people at risk of contracting diseases such as Hendra and lyssavirus.
"It is the policy of the Australian Party that they will be removed from all population centres - full stop," he told the broadcaster.
"There are people out there who put the lives of flying foxes in a greater hierarchy than human beings. That must stop."
He said Labor and the Liberal National Party seemed as bad as each other on the issue.
