LOOKING good has never been so environmentally friendly.

Organisers of Green Day Out are calling for entries in the Gold Coast's biggest eco-fashion design competition Little Green Dress.

The Little Green Dress competition aims to test the creativity of fashion designers by allowing only eco-friendly materials to be used.

Green Day Out organiser Anna Itkonen said the competition was open to all skill levels, from high school students to professionals.

“Old tyre inner-tubes, shells found on the beach, used plastic bread packets, an old dress from the OP shop, or natural organic fabrics, whatever combination of materials used in the design, it must keep in the spirit of being green,” Ms Itkonen said.

The competition is open to teams or individuals and includes Ready to Wear and Wearable Art categories as well as a People's Choice Award.

Entries close Thursday, May 26, with the finalists announced on Monday, May 30.

Burleigh Heads designer Sonja Mauf has entered pieces from her label No Formula's new Mosaic Collection for Spring/Summer 2012.

“I was inspired by the intricate and beautiful designs found in traditional Turkish tile work,” Ms Mauf said.

“The collection is made from organic cottons and bamboos to bring together a new, fresh, and inspired look...paving the way for gorgeous sustainable fashion.”
