Barefoot bowls to help Sam

A BAREFOOT bowls fundraiser will be held tomorrow to raise money for Sam Ford and his family.

Sam became permanently disabled after being king-hit in Coolangatta in October 2009. His 19-year-old attacker was sentenced to six years’ jail last month, with the possibility of parole in two years.

Sam, 19, will need 24-hour-a-day care for the rest of his life.

Sympathetic to the plight of Sam and his ongoing rehabilitation requirements, Cabarita couple Jack and Colleen McArdle joined forces with Cabarita Beach Sports Club to help.

The McArdles organised a barefoot bowls fundraising for tomorrow at the club from 1pm-4.30pm DST.

It costs $5 to take part, children under 12 years are free, and all proceeds will go to the Sam Ford Foundation.

In addition Cabarita Beach Sports Club will donate all bar profits on the day between 1pm and 4.30pm. There will also be a barbecue, raffles, and cake stalls available on the day.
