LITTLE Noah Younan sure knows how to make an entrance.

The Banora Point bub surprised parents Victoria and John Younan when a quick labour began and ended in the family's ensuite bathroom on Friday.

The couple were assisted at the last minute by two Tweed Heads paramedics who helped bring the two-hour, unplanned homebirth to a happy end.

“It was such a huge surprise for us, it is the last thing any of us expected,” Mrs Younan said.

“It all happened so fast.”

Mrs Younan said she only feared for the safety of her baby briefly.

“The last 15 minutes before Noah was born was really scary though. Thank God there were no complications and that the paramedics were there,” she said.

Mr Younan said the “action-packed night” began at 3.10pm when his wife experienced her first contraction.

“I rang the hospital about 4pm to let them know we were coming,” he said.

“I thought we had plenty of time.”

Before they knew it, their new son began to arrive about 4.30pm.

“I had been on the phone to Triple Zero to get an ambulance when it all began. The lady on the line stayed with me until they got there, she was great.

“At one point she told me that I might have to deliver the baby. It scared me a bit. I'm not good with things like blood.”

Thankfully, the two paramedics arrived with minutes to spare and managed to deliver the baby safe and sound.

Noah Harry John Younan was born at 4.55pm on Friday, his predicted due date.

He weighed 3440 grams and measured 65cm from head to toe.

Following the delivery, both mother and baby were taken to The Tweed Hospital by the paramedics for examination.

Both were fine.

Mrs Younan said she would like to meet her paramedic heroes again to thank them.

“Everyone was fantastic; the ambulance was very fast,” she said.

“They were great, very professional. I don't know how many babies they've delivered but it was completely safe.”

A New South Wales Ambulance spokesman said delivering babies was all part of the job for paramedics.

“They often deliver babies in the back of an ambulance or at homes,” the spokesman said.

“Our call-takers are also trained in giving instructions on how to deliver babies if need be.

“One thing with babies is when they decide to come out they don't care where they are.

“Paramedics get a real buzz out of delivering a healthy baby to the parents.”
