THE brief of evidence in relation to the murder of eight-year-old Bundaberg girl Trinity Bates was ready to be handed over to defence lawyers, a court heard yesterday.
Allyn John Slater, 20, formerly of Franklin Street, Bundaberg, has been charged with killing the girl.
The eight-year-old's slain body was found in a stormwater drain about 50 metres from her home on February 22.
Slater is being held in a Brisbane correctional centre and did not appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court yesterday.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Robyn Shapcott told the court the evidence brief had been completed, but it was “voluminous”.
“There are two large boxes and other materials,” she said.
“That material is ready to be picked up.”
Defence counsel Nick Larter said lawyers would need a lengthy adjournment to go through the evidence presented to them.
Magistrate Jennifer Batts adjourned the case until August 2, for further committal mention.
Slater was remanded in custody and does not have to appear in court on that date.
