Youth service gets new home
CABARITA Youth Service finally has a new home.
After a long fight for funding and new premises, the organisation is setting up in Hastings Rd, Cabarita.
Electrician Phil Larkin has come to the rescue, completing all the electrical work for free.
"He has been wonderful," said president of the Cabarita Youth Service Karen Cranwell.
"We now also have a new youth worker and local MP Geoff Provest got us a small amount of money to kick start the project.
"We still have money to come from the council and we need a fridge and a bit of manpower to do some painting.
"All in all we should be under way in a short time."
There are plans for a working bee.
The venue is bright and airy, with computers and internet access.
"We could use some kitchen cabinets," Ms Cranwell said.
The former building occupied by the service had a mural out the front.
"This has been packed up to be used again," Ms Cranwell said.
