A TEENAGER who rolled her car made a lucky escape this morning.

The 17-year-old was travelling on Scenic Dr, Bilambil Heights, when she collided with a median strip before her car rolled and came to rest on the roof.

Tweed/Byron Local Area Command Inspector Greg Jago said she was in the car for 20 minute before being transported to Tweed Hospital.

"She wasn't trapped," he said.

"We kept her in the vehicle due for medical concerns and possible injuries."

All emergency services responded to the incident including four marked police cars and two highway patrol cars about 8am.

Tweed Heads firefighter Ben Gallard said the girl was a provisional licence holder on the way to school.

"We helped the ambulance drivers to release her due to possible spinal injuries," he said.

Initially police were told the teen was trapped in the car resulting in a higher police presence.

Insp Jago said people needed to be careful on the roads and drive to the conditions.

"Always drive to the posted speed limit and manage fatigue," he said.
