STRONG winds across the Tweed have bought down trees onto roads.

Tweed Shire Council works manager Ian Kite said all the trees came down during the morning but have been cleared away.

"They only started falling early this morning," Mr Kite said.

"There were five major incidences."

Mr Kite said he was not aware of the exact locations except to say that crew worked quickly to clear away debris but was no emergency night work required.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, winds up to 45kmh were experienced this morning and would reduce tonight to between 20-30kmh.

A high pressure system to the east of Tasmania was bringing a ridge across NSW to the Tweed.

Another cooler change is expected on Thursday bring with it more unstable weather.
