Win a $3000 penthouse stay and support Salt surf club
PAY it forward is the motto for two charities trying to provide a financial boost for disadvantaged children in the region.
They are by joining forces to auction a beach holiday package including a one week stay in a luxurious penthouse in the upmarket Maili development at Rainbow Bay.
The Salt Village Surf Lifesaving Club building fund has raised more than $100,000 to go towards the construction of a new clubhouse building for the Salt SLSC.
The SLSC building fund secured a gift certificate valued at $3,000 for a one-week stay at the multi-award winning Maili beachfront development, which was snapped up by local businessman and philanthropist Michael Brosnan.
Mr Brosnan plans to auction the voucher on behalf of the Uncles and Aunties charity, which provides mentoring and support for disadvantaged children.
Salt Village SLSC chairman Mark Humphries said the outcome was a fantastic example of what could be achieved by charities and community groups working together in the Tweed.
"We were thrilled when Michael told us about his plans to pay it forward and use his prize to help his preferred charity," he said.
"Whoever wins the auction won't just be taking a holiday in one of the most opulent south coast penthouses; they will be giving a much needed financial boost to a great charity.
"It's also great to see a couple of local restaurants supporting this initiative.
"With the restaurant vouchers and Rusty Surfboard, holidaymakers will be able to experience the ultimate beach break.
The auction will take place on eBay, commencing today and will run for five days.
The beach holiday package also includes a Rusty Surfboard, a $50 voucher for the Fisherman's Cove Seafood Tavern and a $50 voucher for Saltbar Beachbar and Bistro at Salt Village, which is just a 15-minute drive from Rainbow Bay.
