THE amount of things people might do with $21 million dollars.

There is probably as many as what they would do in order to earn that sort of money.

Murwillumbah News manager Lisa Guinea said if a local won this weekend's $21 million Lotto Superdraw they would likely think first of their family.

"The town is very family oriented," she said.

"They might talk about going on a big holiday, but there will always be a mention of family when it comes to the prospect of winning.

"They usually say they'd buy their daughter a house or just generally take care of their family."

Excitement around the three monthly jackpot is building at the local newsagent.

Ms Guinea said the shop put on extra staff for Friday and Saturday, had decorated and all staff were revelling in their customers' hopeful smiles.

"Tickets have been selling fine, though we're expecting a bigger day on Saturday.

"It's been a while since we've had a big winner, and it's great for the business when that happens, especially if it's a regular, buyer."

She said a new division six game was producing more winners.
