Where there's smoke there's not always a dangerous fire
SOUTH Grafton residents who noticed a large plume of grey smoke rising from the area yesterday evening need no have been alarmed.
The smoke was the result of a controlled burn in Durrington Park.
The burn was lit by the Grafton and South Grafton fire brigades and was part of their planned hazard reduction.
"There have been a few minor fires in the area recently," said a spokesman from the Grafton Fire Brigade.
"That is the only one we had planned for the near future with Grafton itself but the RFS may be lighting a few more on the city's outskirts in the lead up to summer," he said.
