Village with two names is top spot
IT'S a bit confusing.
Which part of Cabarita is Bogangar and which part of Bogangar is Cabarita?
There are many theories on the subject.
The post office is stated to be in Bogangar, so Marty's Restaurant, being in the same vicinity, must also be.
"Whatever name you choose to call it, this place is beautiful," Marty Waters said.
Marty and Wendy Waters made the seachange from Melbourne.
"I came up this way for a 21st birthday party and never went back," Mr Waters said.
"I met Wendy and the rest is history."
"Bogangar has the best of everything.
"It's a beautiful place to live with a great lifestyle and the people are lovely."
Marty's has a big open fire and a bar. With Middle Eastern food, pizzas and tapas and open mic on a Tuesday night. It's a pretty cosy spot to hang out.
Round Mountain sits behind Bogangar, with a contrast of scenery that includes pine forests and winding mountain roads.
The town is the land of the Goodjingburra clan of the Bundjalung people and there are middens in the hinterland of Cabarita Beach. The locality name is Cabarita Beach after a housing estate developed in the 1960s, but the original and postal name for this pretty little town is Bogangar, an Aboriginal word meaning "place of many pippies", which refers to the ancient ceremonial shell middens in the area.
