Valentine’s Day is a chance for romantics to shine
CUPID'S arrow seems to have struck hard across the Tweed.
Valentine's Day is coming up fast and many Tweed residents My Daily News spoke to were looking forward to surprising their loved ones.
However, there were a few cynics with some complaining the holiday was nothing more than a marketing ploy.
But not Tweed Head's Des Delaney who said the day was a great chance for romantics to shine.
"I think it's mainly for romantics and the young at heart," he said.
"It's still popular and a good excuse to express one's feelings for someone close."
Daniel Webster was visiting from Ocean Shores said the day had a distinctly commercial focus, but it didn't have to be that way.
"You have got be genuine with your effort."
"If you've already got a girlfriend it's a good opportunity to remind her how much you care about her," he said.
My Daily News was surprised to discover that Tweed men seemed to be looking forward to Valentine's Day more than woman, with many gents planning extravagant gifts or getaways for their beloved.
