Tweed couples’ delight with New Year babies
TWO excited Tweed couples welcomed their first children into the world on January 1.
Proud parents Elise and Jarryd Bradbery said hello to Lotus, while Jennifer Boddy and Ashley Whamond met their newborn Francesca for the first time.
Lotus was born at Tweed Heads Hospital and weighed 3730g, while Francesca was born at John Flynn Hospital in Tugun and weighed 3050g.
Both babies were healthy girls and their parents couldn't keep the smiles off their faces during the first few days with their new arrivals.
Elise Bradbery went through an emergency cesarean and Lotus was born just after midnight.
"The birth was pretty intense," she said.
"The fireworks went off and she came soon after. We are very proud."
Mrs Bradbery was settling into the new routine but was excited to spend time with her little girl. "It's stressful and rewarding," she said.
"But everything is good, she's coming along in leaps and bounds."
Ms Boddy was excited about the birth and said she was "happy and overjoyed".
"We are just in love with her," she said.
"It's like nothing we've ever experienced before.
"There's something new every day."
Ms Boddy thought Francesca's birth on the first day of the new year would be an interesting topic in years to come.
"We think it's pretty special but she's probably going to hate it," she said.
Daily News asked Ms Boddy how she felt about spending time with Francesca and she was ecstatic.
"Everything's going wonderfully," she said.
"We are extremely proud parents."
Both families will be leaving hospital soon for some quality time together.
