A THREE car pile up on the Pacific Motorway during peak hour this morning had commuters at a standstill for more than 30 minutes.

Just after 8am a three-car pile up occurred southbound near the Kennedy Dr entry merge lane just on the Terranora Creek Bridge.

Police said details are unclear and that they were currently preparing a report.

Acting Inspector Jason Dowds said one person suffered minor injuries after the air bag deployed.

The three cars were towed from the crash site.

Another crash occurred on Kennedy Dr a short time later, when commuters who sought an alternative route were delayed further.

Insp Dowds said no information was available at this time.
