Three vehicles came together in a collision on the Grafton Bridge this afternoon.

A dark Mitsubushi Magna was at the centre of the incident, which caused traffic delays of up to 20 minutes.

Witnesses said they saw the Magna turn southbound from Clarence Street onto Bent Street, where it crossed to the other side of the road and hit a four wheel drive travelling the other way.

The impact caused the four wheel drive to turn 180 degrees and side-swipe another vehicle, and left the Magna's front right tyre in tatters.

Uncomfirmed reports suggest a male occupant of the Magna was involved in an altercation with the female driver, and may have contributed to the accident.

Reports suggest he fled the scene on foot, and police were seen in pursuit shortly afterwards.

There were no injuries.
