CURRUMBIN'S 10th annual Swell Sculpture Festival came to an end last weekend after 10 days of sea, sun, discussions, workshops and sculptures exhibited on the beach.

Throughout the festival the public was invited to cast its votes for three People's Choice Awards and the winners were announced Wednesday.

Festival director Natasha Edwards said Swell 2012 was a huge success which attracted an estimated audience of 180,000 over the 10 days of the event.

"Reaching the 10th anniversary has been a major milestone for Swell.

"We'd like to thank all the artists who exhibited work this year, all the crew and volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the event, our wonderful sponsors for their support and of course the many of thousands of people who visited the exhibition," Ms Edwards said.

First people's choice prize, the 'Currumbin Beach Vikings SLSC People's Choice Award' worth $3000, went to Jak Henson for "remember when we went to the beach", an image of five young beach lovers observing a sunset after a day at the beach.

Second prize, the 'School of Humanities Griffith University Kids' Choice Award' worth $2000,  was won by  Ivan Lovatt for "Macro", a three dimensional image of a bee.

Third prize, the 'Way of Design Swell Smalls Gallery People's Choice Awards worth $500, was also taken out by Ivan Lovatt for "Bristling".

"See you again next year," Ms Edwards said.
