Surfing success for Yamba boat crew

YAMBA Surf Life Saving Club punched well above it's weight at the Lifesaving World Championships in Adelaide last week.

The under-23 surf boat crew of Sam Kapeen, Andrew Bell, Marc Adamson, Michael Foulds and sweep Rod McSkimming showed they could mix it with the best by finishing fifth in their final.

It was a sterling effort from the crew, who were competing against crews several years their senior.

"I'm really proud of the boys," McSkimmings said.

"The other crews were three to four years older than the Yamba crew and they performed like they'd been there for years."

The crew will compete in the Craft Carnival at Coffs Harbour today.
