Surfers hoping for break to return for Quiksilver Pro
THINGS are taking shape at Rainbow Bay Surf Life Saving Club in preparation for the Quiksilver and Roxy pros, with workers setting up the stands.
Surfers are also hoping the sand is taking shape to bring the famous break back to its best in time for competition.
The weather that hit the Tweed when ex-cyclone Oswald passed over late last month moved more sand off the point.
Brent Dorrington was looking forward to the trial a few days before the main event, after making it to the quarter-finals of the Breaka Burleigh Pro earlier this month.
He said he hoped the break at Snapper Rocks would return in time.
Coolangatta surfer Holly-Daze Coffee is competing at the Roxy Pro trial.
"It should be really fun," Ms Coffee said.
"At Snapper the banks are not good, but they will have it around at D'bah if they have to."
Ms Coffee said she preferred to surf at Snapper Rocks.
Coolangatta surfer Joel Parkinson will start the defence of his world title at the Quiksilver Pro 2013 from March 2-13.
