Students make top rung of HSC

THREE Mullumbimby High School students have been named on the NSW HSC All-round Achievers List this year, after results were released yesterday at 6am via SMS, online or the telephone.

Bohdi Dun, Julia Riches and Yindi Sutton made it onto the prestigious list for which students have to gain the highest band - six - in at least five subjects.

The results have delighted acting principal Donna Pearson who said it was part of a long tradition of outstanding HSC achievement at the school.

Ms Pearson said 13 Mullumbimby students scored 90% or above in at least one subject, with a total of 38 band six results.

Other schools that made it onto the all-round achiever's list were:

Xavier Catholic College at Ballina with Talen Pinxteren and Karly Potts; and Trinity Catholic College in Lismore with Divya Venkataraman and Hannah Taylor.

Trinity principal Father Peter Carroll said one quarter of his students had received the highest band in one or more subjects.

State schools were strongly represented with eight First in Course places for the region, while across the state comprehensive, non-selective schools scored an outstanding 23 places on the First in Course list.
