Still no leads on body in the bag find

IT'S just over two weeks since a bag of human remains was found on the bank of the Tweed River in Tumbulgum and the victim's name and what killed him remain a mystery.

Tweed/Byron Local Area Command Inspector Darren Steel said police still had no idea who he was.

He also said a sketch had not yet been drafted for possible identification.

Late last week Inspector Saul Wiseman said police were canvassing to try to find more information about the grim discovery near Dulguigan Rd about 7pm on November 24.

Both the bag and the remains were taken to the morgue for examination.

Results indicated the remains were of a Caucasian man aged between 50 and 70 years.

He was described as being about 163cm tall, with long, grey hair tied in a pony tail about 150mm long, with a blue hair tie.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, in strictest confidence.
