IT'S been exactly two weeks since a bag of human remains was found on the bank of the Tweed River in Tumbulgum.

Tweed/Byron Local Area Command Inspector Darren Steel said police still had no idea who the man was.

He also said a sketch had not been drafted for possible identification.

Late last week Inspector Saul Wiseman said were canvassing to find more information about what happened to the man.

Cause of death is still a mystery to the authorities.

The bag was located near Dulguigan Rd about 7pm on November 24.

Both the bag and the remains were taken to the morgue where there was a post mortem examination.

Results indicated the remains were of a Caucasian man aged between 50 and 70 years.

He was described as being about 163cm tall and had long grey hair tied in a pony tail about 150mm long, with a blue hair tie.

Detectives from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command, with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, are continuing investigations into the matter.

They are appealing to anyone who may know the identity of the man to contact them.

Anyone with information about the matter is asked to contact Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Information can be provided anonymously and will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
