MORE than 40 stall holders have already registered for the first Simply Handmade Markets in Yamba on December 2.
Organisers say they have been surprised by the variety of talent in the Clarence Valley.
"From felting to glasswork, cake decorators and traditional crafts like crochet and sewing, we're looking forward to showcasing all the wonderful work from the area," said market co-organiser Gabrielle Hawke.
"We'd like to see everyone come and support local crafters and (we) encourage people to buy local and handmade this Christmas."
Nicole Hentscher Fotographics, of Maclean, will make its first appearance at a Clarence Valley market, offering a Christmas-themed photo booth, with lots of fun props like Santa hats, beards, glasses and candy canes.
"I wanted to do something fun and different to the traditional Santa photo... besides, my husband Jason refused to dress up in a Santa suit," Mrs Hentscher said.
Also from Maclean, Belinda Hall loves creating clothing featuring doilies and ruffles.
"I've been very busy with ruffles and frills and making plenty of stock for the markets, but it's not easy to find the time with a two-year-old," Ms Hall said.
"I'm very much looking forward to meeting all the talented people we have on the Clarence.
"It's the first handmade markets Yamba has had and I can't wait to be a part of it."
Marketgoers should keep their eye out for speciality cakes by Sylvia Fitch, who has 30-odd years of experience in cake decorating.
She plans to offer plenty of tempting cupcakes on the day, as well as a sample of her full-scale cakes.
"There'll be lots of cupcakes, including red velvet mud cake, chocolate mud cake, my gingerbread houses and mini fruit cakes," Mrs Fitch said.
Co-organiser Lisa O'Brien said many people had been asking about a local handmade market.
When the opportunity came up to host it at the Raymond Laurie Sports Centre, they ran with it.
"We think it's going to be really well received and it's been great to see so many young people get involved," Mrs O'Brien said.
