St George comes to the rescue of flood victims

COMMUNITY groups affected by the floods could get receive up to $5000 in a new funding scheme.

St George Bank has $100,000 worth of funding available for community groups who have been victims of the recent extreme flooding in the Tweed Shire.

Regional executive for the North Coast Scott McCluckey said the funding was available to use in the rebuilding of infrastructure and resources to help communities get back on their feet quickly.

"Our local branch managers and staff in affected areas have strong links within their local communities and are only too willing to hear from any local community groups in need of funding to help rebuild the damage," he said.

Any affected community based groups can speak to their closest St George branch staff about the details, they're currently nominating known organisation for grants of up to $5000.
