ROCKHAMPTON'S Community Solutions is putting its hand up to improve community service facilities in the regional centre and is looking for other businesses to get on board.
Managing director of Community Solutions David Curd said Rockhampton had been identified as an area to establish a Community Capital Centre (CCC) - which is described as a "one-stop-shop" where people can access a variety of community services.
Mr Curd said the amount of infrastructure growth taking place in Central Queensland would create a need for the service.
"We (Community Solutions) only operate in regional Queensland and it's important to have a physical presence in these towns rather than just making visits," Mr Curd said.
"We are facing incredible opportunities and challenges with the amount of infrastructure happening in the region, so we are committed to a level of social infrastructure to support and underpin all the activity going on here and wider Central Queensland."
The not-for-profit organisation has earmarked $750,000 for a CCC and has submitted a proposal to the Federal Government to provide some additional funding in the May Budget.
CCCs are the latest effort in community service delivery, providing a centralised location where community service providers can work together within a single building. Mr Curd said this would improve the standard of community services and its delivery.
"The co-location of services helps to drive strong social and economic outcomes for the regional communities in which Community Capital Centres are developed; and that is the reason we want to deliver such a centre for Rockhampton.
"We've already established one in the Sunshine Coast and Maryborough and they've been very beneficial."
