Soccer clubs prepare for Anzac Cup

SOCCER clubs across the region are stepping up their pre-season preparations and their staking their claim for silverware.

Anzac Cup action starts on Friday with several Football FNC sides in action.

Alstonville host Casino Cobras on Friday night in one of the opening round's most enticing fixtures.

Action get started at 8pm.

Matches are taking place in different pools, with various teams in action over the weekend.

Last year's champions Lismore Workers may face a delayed start to this year's campaign.

Workers' clash at Goonellabah may be rained off, with the Hornets' West Park pitch feeling the effects from recent storms.

A decision was due on Friday.

Italo Stars' clash with Lismore Thistles has already been called off.
