Skateboarder severs artery in fall
TAMARIND Ave at Cabarita Beach was closed off by police until about 10am on Sunday morning following a skateboarding accident the night before, when a young male allegedly sustained lacerations and severed an artery.
An ambulance was called around midnight according to residents in the street.
A large quanity of blood was hosed by the fire brigade on Sunday morning.
The accident ocurred at the top of the avenue where it meets Tweed Coast Road on a steep hill.
Residents said they didn't hear the young man fall off his board, but had heard cars racing up and down previous to the accident.
It is believed he hit his head on the road after falling from the skateboard.
He was taken to Tweed Hospital by emergency services.
