Six year old boy's condition said to be stabilising

THE six-year-old boy who was hit by a car near car on Lawrence Rd, near Butterfactory Lane at about 4.30pm on Sunday is responding to treatment.

The boy has been taken to Randwick Children's Hospital in Sydney and after been in an induced coma his condition is now thought to have improved.

Early reports suggest a group of children were playing near the road when the young boy wandered into the path of an oncoming car.

Police said the driver tried to avoid hitting the child but was unable to do so.

The driver has been tested for drugs and alcohol and police are awaiting the results however no charges have been laid.

It is understood the boy is a student of Westlawn Public School.
