Selbie and Quail win Golden Nugget
LEIF Selby and Rebecca Quail are the 2012 Golden Nugget winners after scoring hard-fought victories in Thursday's semi-finals and finals at Tweed Heads Bowls Club.
Selby proved a shade too good for Ben Twist in the game that mattered, winning 25-21 while Quail repeated the same scoreline in her victory over Kelsey Cottrell.
Earlier in the morning's semi-finals, Selby posted a 20-25 win over national chairman of selectors Steve Glasson and Twist bolted away to toss Aron Sherriff 25-14.
Quail's semi-final victory was over the great Karen Murphy, getting home 25-22 in a real tightie while Cottrell easily accounted for Claire Duke 25-11.
A huge crowd was on hand to witness the finals, matching the big number who watched all the action from day one on Monday.
