Seat confirmed for Baker

ANDREW Baker has been elected to Clarence Valley Council.

Mr Baker passed the quota of votes required to be assured a seat yesterday evening.

The remaining votes are still being counted at the Prince St electoral office.

More than 2200 votes were added to the Valley's formal tally yesterday, with the result expected today.

There has been no change to the top nine, however, the race for the final three seats is tightening and the candidate placed seventh only leads the 10th-placed candidate by 134 votes.

The only change to the order of the top nine places saw Jim Simmons jump Craig Howe to take fifth place.

That has left leading nine candidates as:

  • Richie Williamson
  • Andrew Baker
  • Jason Kingsley
  • Sue Hughes
  • Jim Simmons
  • Craig Howe
  • Jeremy Challacombe
  • Greg Clancy
  • Karen Toms

*Information as of 6.30pm last night

The race for the final place on council is currently between Margaret McKenna and Karen Toms, with Toms ahead by just six votes.
