Search on for man believed to have been swept out to sea

THE search for a man believed to have been swept out to sea last night will continue at first light today.

Initial reports indicate the man was walking north along the beach from Kurrawa to First Avenue, Broadbeach when witnesses claim they saw him walk into the surf and be taken by an aggressive rip.

He was last seen one kilometer off shore.

A search and rescue of the area was conducted involving water police and Pol Air, however the man was not located.

The search will recommence at first light today.
