MARKETS, entertainment and great food, there is not much more you could ask for.

This weekend, in conjunction with the Tyalgum Festival of Classical Music, Tyalgum Public School will hold their own Spring Fair.

It is now in its second year and principal Peter Meadow promises it will be a day to remember.

"There will be an amazing variety of activities, stalls and entertainment for adults and children," he said.

"The Banana Festival queen will open the festival and classical Indian dancers, two school choirs and indigenous dancers will perform."

The day will also see a mini fete to keep the kids at bay.

Mr Meadow said he was intrigued to see how many people would participate in the 'throw a wet sponge at the principal' competition.

"This is very much a community event and we would love to have as many people come along as possible," he said.

"Come along and just enjoy yourself and the music."

P&C president Jodi Morse said visitors to the fair would also get the chance to listen to some informative environmental presentations.

The focus of the fair will be on locally grown produce and homemade crafts.

"We're going for that old school, old fete feeling," she said.

Proceeds raised on the day will go to the P&C, who are looking at putting lighting and a public announcement system into their outdoor area.

Entry is free and the event caters to the entire family.

If you want to have a fun filled Sunday make sure to head to Tyalgum Public School from 10am to 2pm Sunday, September 9.
