Santa’s Disco dance
CAROLS with a funky twist were heard across the Northern Rivers at the weekend, with families getting into the festive spirit in villages, along the beaches and local halls.
The Lismore Carols celebration saw numbers well above last year's 5000 at Riverside Park in Lismore last night.
Lisa Hunt and the Forever Band had Santa and all the elves moving shaking it to the tunes of Michael Jackson, funky 70s Disco songs and, of course, more than one Christmas song with a funky twist.
Lismore residents and visitors dancing also enjoyed performances by Dhinawan Dreaming, Georgina Pollard, St Andrews African Choir, Luke Vassella, John Allen, Lismore City Concert Band, Wyrallah Road Public School Choir and Blue Hills College Choir.
There were also guest appearances by NBN's Big Dog and Santa Claus.
The evening came to a close with a fireworks show that awed the children and entertained the adults.
Carols By The Sea were also held in Byron Bay on Saturday.
Run by the Byron Ministers Fellowship and directed by award-winning jazz and gospel music artist, Sharny Russell, the coastal celebration also had a funky and festive feeling that delighted the audiences.
