Sands of time return to Cudgen
WHILE the Gold Coast City Council struggles to repair erosion at its northern beaches, the beaches south of the border have been spared.
Cudgen Surf Life Saving Club's Chris Watson said the club was monitoring beach conditions for the past 10-12 weeks and there had been little erosion.
"It's nice to have beach at the front of the club," Mr Watson said.
"I wouldn't say we were busier. When there was just water at the front of the club there were a lot of people that came just to have a look.
"Now there are people that are down there enjoying the beach."
Gold Coast City Council has started a five-week dredging program at Tallebudgera Creek to help replenish Burleigh Beach.
The sand is being release at the southern end of the beach and currents will spread it north about 350m.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the beaches could be in for another battering this weekend with swells expected to peak at 4-5m on Saturday.
The swell is expected to increase tomorrow from 1-3m in the morning to 3-5m in the evening.
