TWEED business and industry operators will have a united voice with the establishment of the Tweed Business Advisory Board (TBAB).

An initiative of Destination Tweed, the region's Business Chambers and industry representatives, TBAB will provide a forum for direct engagement with the business sector.

It will also offer joint discussion on a range of issues affecting economic growth in the Shire, for the purpose of presenting various recommendations to Tweed Shire Council.

"We are currently seeking applications for Board membership from industry leaders representing a broad cross-section of our major businesses and industry sectors," said Destination Tweed CEO, Bill Tatchell.

"In addition to Destination Tweed and the Tweed, Kingscliff, Pottsville and Murwillumbah business associations, we would like to include input from a wide range of industry sectors to achieve a whole-of-economy approach."

The Board will seek to meet four times a year with Council to provide direct input that they hope will shape and drive the required changes to Council policy.

"Specifically, TBAB will articulate to council the key challenges facing existing Tweed businesses and the impediments to businesses wanting to establish new operations in the region," said Mr Tatchell.

"Most importantly, TBAB will be focussing on devising workable solutions based on the experience and practical knowledge of successful operators and industry representatives who know exactly what is going on out there in the Tweed's business community."

Applications for representation on the Tweed Business Advisory Board are now open and should be sent to Destination Tweed prior to the closing date of September 4.
