CURRUMBIN RSL Club's Gold Coast Gives campaign is off to an excellent start, with a flurry of distinct yellow envelopes scattering the Tweed.

This November and December the services club decided to give a little something to the community, in the hopes that random acts of kindness would prevail.

Bright yellow envelopes containing a good deed have been handed out by marketing managers Laura Prout and Stacey Panozzo, on the provision that the receiver continues to spread the good spirits of the gesture.

Mrs Panozzo's young daughter inspired the campaign after she handed a flower to a delighted citizen on the street.

From there, Gold Coast Gives was born and the RSL set out to bring smiles to the faces of residents who have been quite taken aback at getting something for nothing.

Mrs Prout said the campaign was going well and hoped people were surprising others by returning the random acts of kindness.

"It's purely about getting people out there helping each other," she says.

"I really like the surprise and delight part of things."

Social media has been a large part of the campaign, with Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest all being used to spread the message.

Mrs Panozzo said thousands of people have shown interest in the campaign over social media and it was a positive initiative the club was happy to support.

"Over 15,000 people have seen the campaign online," she said.

"It's all about giving back to the community."

Currumbin RSL has donated more than $5 million to locals in need over the past five years.
