Rainfall causes landslip and closes road
THE soggy weather is taking its toll on Tweed roads and causing landslips.
Tweed/Byron Local Area Command Inspector Leanne Edmonds said Scenic Dr, Tweed Heads West is the weather's latest victim.
"About 10.20pm police were patrolling and discovered the land slip," she said.
"The lane was completely blocked east bound and partially blocked west bound."
The Council were called to attend and the road was cleared and reopened about 12am.
"Due to the wet conditions people need to be mindful of the road ways," Insp Edmonds said.
Council workers were at the scene trying to stabilise the ground this morning.
