Rain falling across the Tweed making a wet start to 2013
THE wet weather on the Tweed is likely to stay with us until next year.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the unstable weather across the Tweed was likely to continue with possible thunder storms in the afternoons.
Low-level cloud covered most of the Tweed this morning but it has brought little rainfall.
Murwillumbah with 16mm, Burringbar (17mm), Uki (17mm) and Brays Creek (22mm) had some of the heaviest rainfall for the 24 hours until 9am today.
Tumbulgum and Banora had 9mm of rainfall in the same period in the 24 hours to 9am this morning.
According to the bureau, there was a chance of a thunderstorm later today and showers were expected for most days until January 2.
Although the holidays looks to be a wet one this year, it will keep temperatures down with the last day of the year forecast to be the warmest for the next seven days at 29 degrees.
State Emergency Service Spokesman Phil Campbell said more storms were on the way and he hoped the SES would not be needed.
"The Bureau [of Meteorology] is telling us there'll be more storms in the Valley, but they shouldn't be too serious," he said.
