Racing fans urged to get designs underway for big race
THE CALL is out to the finest creative finds in the Clarence Valley.
If you've ever felt the need for speed and haven't been able to slip into a speedcar, get building the cart of your dreams for the next best thing.
The famous Australia Day Billy Cart Derby is around the corner and organiser Ken Campton is getting ready for a massive day of racing.
"It's getting closer to the big day so we're getting the word out now," Crampton said.
Arguably one of the most entertaining aspects of Maclean's Australia Day activities, the billy cart derby was cancelled last year due to poor weather.
While the weather has been quite the opposite so far this year, nervous racers and organisers will be keeping a keen eye on what Mother Nature does next.
There are several safety features that every cart across the two classes must have to ensure they can compete.
With only 16 days until race day, budding participants are encouraged to get started early on their creations.
