Queer fruits film fest kicks-off
TOMORROW is a big day for the local LGBTI community, with the fourth Queer Fruits Film Festival kicking off in Lismore.
The festival, which runs over four sessions held through tomorrow and Sunday, is the only independent LGBTI film festival in Australia, and Festival Director, Akkadia Ford, said that this year's festival offers something for everyone - a great range of films of a high standard.
This year they've had films submitted from all around the world, and had fantastic support from filmmakers worldwide, said Ms Ford.
"There are some fantastic films."
She said if people haven't been to the film festival before, what they can expect is "a really great standard of films," including some Australian and world premieres.
There will also be special guest performance, with queer/burlesque MCs, Fancy Piece, performing at session one, and electro pop duo Shiny Shiny taking the stage at session four before the after party begins at the Platinum Bar.
