ARRIVAL and departure deadlines came under scrutiny at Gold Coast Airport in a recent Australia-wide domestic aviation study by the Department of Infrastructure.

Qantas and Virgin Australia came up trumps in the performance study.

The study looked at the year ending December 2012, with the Gold Coast to Adelaide flight showing Virgin Australia with the best arrival and departure times (both 92.4%) and jestar coming bottom of the list (departures 87.7% and departures at 88.5%).

For Gold Coast to Melbourne flights Virgin led the way again, with Tiger Airways on bottom rung of the performance ladder.

A focus on flights from Gold Coast Airport to Sydney revealed Qantas had the best departure times (86.7%), but Virgin Australia with the best arrival percentage (78%).

Of the 54 routes across Australia which met the criteria for on time performance, the Adelaide-Gold Coast route had the highest percentage of on time departures at 91.5% and the highest percentage of on time arrivals (91.7%).
