Protests won’t stop us, Metgasco
METGASCO CEO Peter Henderson says while anti-CSG protesters are a nuisance they are not going to stop the industry's development.
"We're a law-abiding company, we've gone through all of the required processes and we're entitled to do what we're doing," said Mr Henderson.
Mr Henderson travelled to Lismore last week to take part in the community consultation meeting with State Planning Minister Brad Hazzard.
"I would have been happy to be part of a mature and sensible meeting but there are some people out there who don't want to listen and they've already made up their mind," said Mr Henderson who walked away from the hall claiming he had been pushed by protesters outside.
"We do our best to provide real information but some people would rather hear anecdotal evidence and come to incredible conclusions that have no basis in fact."
Mr Henderson also questioned Member for Page Janelle Saffin's anti-CSG stance.
"It is absolute nonsense, driven by her own electoral needs," he said
"Her own party doesn't support her, her own minister Martin Ferguson is 100% behind the industry.
"It's very interesting how politicians will change their tune when it suits their immediate electoral needs.
"It was the Labor Party in NSW which gave all the coal seam gas licences out and strangely enough as soon as they're in opposition they decide coal seam gas may not be right."
