Protesters are gathering outside Tweed Shire Council chambers in Murwillumbah.

Carrying signs reading “you bet they die” and “stop greyhound racing in its tracks,” they are opposing a new greyhound racing complex in Murwillumbah.

The council is due to decide later tonight on whether the $5.6million track at South Murwillumbah will be approved.

It is designed to replace Border Park Raceway at Tweed Heads.

Council planners have given it the green light.
