Post-Christmas shopping scramble expected
LOCAL shoppers searched frantically for last-minute presents on Christmas Eve, but today is the day they will search for a few post-Christmas bargains and festive goodies for themselves.
The Boxing Day sales will create an excited buzz among Grafton retailers today as prices are slashed, stock is cleared and the customers turn up in numbers with wallets in hand and their credit cards at the ready.
On Christmas Eve, Grafton Shoppingworld centre manager Greg Hayes said customer numbers were up compared with last year's festive spending frenzy.
Although an approximate figure was not available at the time of publication, Mr Hayes was confident of seeing large crowds today
"Christmas is a busy time of the year for Grafton Shoppingworld and we make sure the centre is clean and tidy and ready for business," he said.
"Technology stores including EB Games were popular with our customers before Christmas Eve, but all our stores are trading well and we expect to see them continue to do so today."
Mr Hayes said he completed his Christmas shopping early this year, adding it was all done and dusted by Christmas Eve.
He is advising bargain hunters to check store opening hours today before leaving home.
