Police will be out in force at this year’s Summafieldayze
GOLD Coast police have warned Tweed revellers heading north to Summafieldayze this Saturday to be mindful of their personal safety.
Gold Coast District officer Superintendent Paul Ziebarth said while he hopes Summafieldayze is enjoyed by all, police also recognise that personal safety can be compromised in large crowds.
"There will be a significant number of officers on duty before, during and after this event including specialist officers from the dog squad and plain clothes officers," Superintendent Ziebarth said.
"Drug dogs and other specialised police will patrol this event.
"Last year there were 49 people detected for drug related offences and we intend to intensify our focus of the drug detection dog operation to reduce the consequences of alcohol and drug related violence and harm."
"If you get into a potentially aggressive situation, walk away. We would remind people that one punch can kill."
Police also want people to use the public transport available to get to and from the site.
There will be significant delays on Seaworld Dr, Main Beach particularly between 10am and 1pm so motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
