Planning panel approves private school for Pottsville

Danielle Lowe

A PROPOSED private primary school for Pottsville has received unanimous support from the Joint Regional Planning Panel.

The five-member panel held a public meeting at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre on Tuesday afternoon and supported the application to build St Ambrose school on a site adjoining Coronation Ave and Elizabeth St, Pottsville.

Some members of the public expressed concerns about potential noise from the belltower proposed for the school, as well as the potential for a school to impact on the amenity of the area for existing residents.

But the panel issued its approval with conditions relating to traffic management, school access and pedestrian access to the school.
